(Or is it “Merry Boxing Day”? I dunno. In the U.S. I guess it’s just “happy return-exchange-and-bargain-hunt day”. Oh, and there’s a boring music nerd post
ahead— you’ve been warned.)
Anyway, like I said the other day, I went guitar shopping with my parents today. I was planning on looking mostly at Martins, but I kept an open mind, and I’m damn glad I did. I came home with a beauty — a Taylor 214-E — and for a steal, too.
It was almost the exact opposite of what I was planning on— it’s a grand auditorium shape instead of dreadnought, satin finish instead of gloss, sapele instead of mahogany, and it has built-in electronics when I was planning on adding them later.
Are my impulse-buying ways over? Probably not.

Mind you, this was recorded in a bedroom with the mic built into my laptop. Not the highest fidelity recording, and not the best guitar player to be sure, but I still think it sounds pretty good.
(The tune is the chorus to “So Damn Lucky”.)

ooooh, nice gift…and playing dave is always a good way to get the ladies
