Designated cookie-baker

Posted on Tuesday November 14, 2006 at 3:48 pm.

All this talk about Democratic presidential nominations has gotten me thinking about why I dislike Hillary Clinton so much. I couldn’t quite put it into words, but then I found this article I linked to in January: The 50 Most Loathsome People in America.

Check out number 30 and nod knowingly.

Run down Rummy

Anybody find something a little fishy about this article? Namely, this statement by a Pentagon spokesman:

“It’s interesting to me that nobody kind of looks at it from the other side, in contrasting the way in which the enemy handles individuals and respect for people,” Whitman said

Huh. I didn’t know Al Qaeda had a Bill of Rights, or that they signed the Geneva Conventions. Guess you learn something new every day.

Of course, does it really matter, or is “Well… they did it first!” a valid legal defense these days?

I wanna be a spy

I sent out two more resumes Sunday, more as an interesting “what if” than anything else: the CIA and NSA.

(See? No links. Not like it’ll help ;-) )

No, I haven’t forgotten that I’m scrawny, out of shape, and have no pain tolerance— they hire nerds too. The CIA actually has a spot for engineers and research scientists, and the NSA likes signal processors and cryptanalysts.

Maybe I just want to respond to “What do you do?” with “Well… it’s classified”.

Brushing with tin

Consumer warning: Crest Pro-Health Toothpaste — the mint flavor anyway — tastes horrible. I think it’s the tin. (Yes, tin.)

But if it does everything it says, it just might be worth it. And maybe i’ll get used to the tin. (I just can’t stop thinking about that.)

Update:
It’s been about twenty minutes, and I think (or maybe I’ve just convinced myself) that I have a metallic taste in the back of my throat, like when there’s a sneaky piece of foil stuck to the bottom of the reheated pizza. Or maybe I’m just crazy.

Russ, come back!

NOOOOOOOOO!!

Christ, who do I have to support now? Is Hilary’s nomination an unfortunate foregone conclusion?

Good all around

The good news just keeps on coming. (And yes, that was an Apple link in there.)

It almost makes up for taking the GRE this afternoon.

Relatedly, making people take looooooong computer exams on CRT monitors in this day and age is a war crime.

Update:
AP says that it’s all over except for the crying, and Allen may concede as early as Thursday.

Update 2:
It is indeed accomplished. And I realized I should have linked “crying” above to this video. (Insert Nelson’s “Ha-ha!” here.)

Wipe up the Santorum

I Voted Against Santorum

He’s still got it

Best trailer ever (YouTubez) on Daily Show tonight: Seinfeld’s upcoming animated Bee Movie.

But the trailer wasn’t animated— it was Seinfeld, Chris Rock, and others recreating a scene from the movie in giant insect costumes. And Eddie Izzard was directing the shot. It was brilliant.

And the YouTube trailer is a little longer — with more Eddie — than what Seinfeld showed on DS.

Brace for it…

This is bad. This is very bad.

Update:
I forgot the link. But did you really need the clarification?

This headline is too good to pass up: Letters to God end up in ocean, unread.

Do they mean unread by anyone or just unread by God? ‘Cause I don’t think Yahoo would make that kind of claim about God’s reading habits.
