Knocked Up: knockout

(I was going to tack this on to the previous post, but it deserves its own.)

Just saw Knocked Up. Hilarious— better than 40-Year-Old Virgin; much less one-note. And as much as I love Steve Carell, Judd Apatow’s writing shone through better without Steve’s over-the-top comedic style.

Paul Rudd was great in support, as usual, and Seth Rogen really stepped up to the leading man role. Both were hilarious in the third act (Vegas) scenes, which included fun homages to Swingers and Fear and Loathing. The “chair” scene was my favorite of the movie.

It took me forever to figure out who the actor playing Ben’s dad is, and I needed IMDb to do it— he played Egon in Ghostbusters.

Anyway, highly recommended, especially if you have the sense of humor of a twenty-something male.
