Pie time!

New show: Pushing Daisies.

At least, I’m pretty sure I like it… it’s one of those shows that’s a bit difficult to tell about. The dialogue is a bit Gilmore-esque, i.e., fast-paced and over-witty. (NYMag concurs.) Naturally, it’s not as annoying here. But a little magic realism in a primetime comedy-drama is refreshing.

But here’s a thought— if someone dies every minute that one of his zombies is awake, that means he has a fair bit of canine genocide on his hands: nineteen years adds up to about ten million dead dogs, right? (Or is it only the first minute?) And is it only skin-to-skin contact that does it? I don’t want to go into detail ruminating about it, but that does leave certain, er… romantic possibilities.

I’ll catch up on the back episodes and add it to the TiFaux, and keep watching until it annoys me too much to continue. We’ll see.

  1. I’ve been watching it since the start, and already it’s losing its charm. The questions have become, ‘How long can quirkiness sustain itself?’ and ‘If it does continue at the same level, how long does it take until quirkiness becomes commonplace?’

For me the answers are ‘Until about… now,’ and, ‘Last week, sometime.’

  2. Someone only dies the first minute (not each minute after.)
I have been watching from the beginning, and I am enjoying the show. I like light and whimsical though, and I loved the Gilmore Girls.
