Thanks, Yahoo, for providing the face-palm headline of the day:

It’s hard-hitting journalism like this that keeps your reliability just a half-step in front of Faux News.
(Of course, if you watch the linked segment, there’s no hint of a direct quote from these “critics”. As Wikipedia would say, [citation needed]. Or perhaps [weasel words].)
This is excellent TV news: Chris Noth is out on Criminal Intent and — get this — Jeff Goldblum is in.
No longer will I be disappointed when it’s not a Goren/Eames episode, it seems.
Used my new .Mac account (gotta get ready for MobileMe and iPhone) to post a photo gallery from a pool party I went to on Friday night.
A fun time, and a fun little web app from Apple. (Make sure you check out the carousel view.)
I’m not one to make light of tragedy, but this is begging for a “Muskrat Love” joke.
Oh Captain & Tennille… is there any natural disaster to which you’re not applicable?
This headline — One-third of Americans want more math taught in schools — sort of writes its own one-line late-night joke, doesn’t it? Something like…
But seriously, yeah. We do need to do something to catch up with up-and-coming superpowers. (I’d say more — and better — sci-math magnet schools, myself.)
Now, don’t get me wrong here; I dislike Coldplay as much as the next reasonable straight man.
But I do like their new album, probably because it is such a departure from past stuff; it’s certainly less whiny. It’s a little U2-ish and some tracks are a teensy bit Radiohead-ish. (The title track sounds exactly like this band called Ra Ra Riot.) Brian Eno and Jon Hopkins were producers, so there’s a bit of ambient electronica in the background, probably aiding the comparison with pre-Eraser Thom Yorke stuff.
So.. not bad. Good enough to get added to the everyday shuffle playlist, anyway.
This New Yorker article — fascinating in its own right — made me itch like nobody’s business.
Man, I wish I were motivated enough to be one of Ramachandran’s grad students.
COME on! How can you not be excited about this? It even has an IMDb page!
This makes my day/week/month. Thanks, fg.
This is made slightly better by the fact that one of my coworkers sounds exactly like David Cross; watching the second Futurama movie (previously) reinforced that. I haven’t gotten him to say “Do these effectively hide my thunder?” yet, though.
Update:
Jason Bateman is on with Olbermann. Oh look, and there’s David Cross! Says Mr. Bateman:
It’s in the works; the grownups are trying to work out the numbers. David’s very expensive now but we’re trying to work out some sort of a back-end position that he’s comfortable with.
The rest is very funny too. (And it contains info about Olbermann being raised Unitarian, and a crack about it.) Watch it:
Seinfeld on Carlin in the New York Times.
