Now, don’t get me wrong here; I dislike Coldplay as much as the next reasonable straight man.
But I do like their new album, probably because it is such a departure from past stuff; it’s certainly less whiny. It’s a little U2-ish and some tracks are a teensy bit Radiohead-ish. (The title track sounds exactly like this band called Ra Ra Riot.) Brian Eno and Jon Hopkins were producers, so there’s a bit of ambient electronica in the background, probably aiding the comparison with pre-Eraser Thom Yorke stuff.
So.. not bad. Good enough to get added to the everyday shuffle playlist, anyway.

Eno’s got the Mida touch—
you got hate for Eraser?
given the new Girl Talk a spin?

Oh, no, no hate for Eraser. It’s just that Thom got his electronic jollies with that album, and then In Rainbows was more flat-out rock; IR was better because Thom made The Eraser.
