They didn’t survey me…

Hey, I’m in this category!

Like of the Conchords

Just finished off a pretty exhausting stint as Bret (of Bret and Jemaine), including a five-song performance and other miscellaneous party-hosting duties.

Pictures tomorrow; Daniel is goddamn uncanny as Jemaine. I’m a reasonable Bret, but nothing compared to him.

But I used my iSight to record our final rehearsal. Check out our setlist: If You’re into It, Business Time, Think Think about It, Most Beautiful Girl in the Room, and Robots.

It was better tonight, when everyone (including me) was a bit tipsy. Man, I wish I could sing.

Forbidden fruit no longer

This is pretty fascinating: an in-depth analysis of the “Red State/Blue State divide” when it comes to teenage attitudes toward sex.

A choice line: “once the self-proclaimed virgin clique hits the thirty-one-per-cent mark, suddenly it’s Sodom and Gomorrah.” The mental image of one additional kid taking the abstinence pledge, and then everyone giving it up at once, as it were, is quite humorous.

Wearing my business socks

You know what time it is.

It’s business, it’s business time… and will continue to be so for the rest of Halloween weekend.

(First) party tonight, so pictures and video coming soon.

It’s Phinally over

As you might have heard, it was kind of a special night in my fair city last night. No, not because of the Obamamercial (though my roommate said him mom told him, “That would even make McCain’s fat ugly daughter vote for Barack.”).

No, instead the Phillies broke the city’s championship drought and beat the Rays.

I’m not a big Philly sports fan— in five years plus of living here, that’s one of the few things that I haven’t really taken to. (Saying “wooder” and Yuengling are others.) I was glad to see, though, that there was only minor looting.

Stark contrast

Have you heard of this guy, Pete Stark? He’s a California congressman, Unitarian, and the first to openly declare being a nonbeliever.

Good for him.

Oh man this is brilliant:

Lord of the Ray

This list of The 10 Most Wanted Blu-ray Flicks is pretty spot on, especially the top few selections (minus Titanic).

I think I said way back in the day that I wouldn’t make an HD movie player purchase until LOTR hit. I’m standing firm on that, though Rock Band 2 (and corresponding good reviews) is weakening my resolve.

Frum bad to worse

There are many ways to lose a presidential election. John McCain is losing in a way that threatens to take the entire Republican Party down with him.

And that’s from David Frum, the asshole who harangued Rachel Maddow (not very well) on her show.

Of course, as one interested observer put it, “He’s still kind of a dick.”
