Partners in badassery

I tweeted excitedly about this yesterday, but in case you missed it, House used a mirror box on this week’s episode to cure (okay, treat) a belligerent neighbor’s phantom limb pain.

I sat there and giggled for five minutes straight (Liz will confirm) because it’s a treatment invented by one of my favorite scientists — certainly one of my favorite neuroscientists — V.S. Ramachandran. I credit his excellent book Phantoms in the Brain (along with a few excellent professors) for getting me into neuroscience, and the mirror box features heavily in that book.

So check out the episode when it hits Hulu. It was also good to see House’s old team back together— I hope it holds up. The dynamic is priceless; I didn’t realize how much I missed it.

What the heck you guys?

I guess Joe Wilson does have a pretty good excuse:

And Bill Hader does a pretty good James Carville in the next segment.

24… 24/7

Grr… slow at posting recently, I guess. I tend to Twitter funny things I find these days, or just IM them to a few people. I’ll try to get back in the habit.

Also… I turned 24 yesterday. It was a low-key birthday, punctuated by an Eagles playoff loss. Also, it’s snowy and too cold. Makes for bad going-out weather. But it was still fun.

On the plus side, I was giggling like crazy at the Flight of the Conchords premiere last night, and also enjoyed Big Love. (Unless something big happens with the latter, it’s kind of losing its luster in its early third season.)

Right. Action items: post more. And… that’s about it. Enjoy the inauguration and subsequent regime change, kids.

It’s still a felony!

Plus, he kinda looks like Ned Flanders with that cross. I was watching reruns of Big Love this week, wherein a character makes the old comparison to wearing an electric chair around one’s neck.

Hey, look at that; something else I own shows up in the set-dressing in a Law & Order episode:

Yep, I have the same track bike as a fake killer and drug-trafficker. Woohoo!

(Side-by-side comparison here.)

Doggone it, people voted for me

It might be a bit premature, but… Senator Stuart Smalley?

Things are looking up.
